UVU to Compete at Mountain States Games This Weekend

Action begins Friday at noon and will conclude Saturday around 3:30 p.m.

Feb. 4, 2009

Utah Valley University's men's and women's track & field teams will participate at the Mountain States Games Friday and Saturday on the campus of Idaho State, in Pocatello, Idaho.

Competing against the Wolverines at the meet will be BYU, Utah, Montana, Montana State, Southern Utah, and host school Idaho State.

The Mountain States Games will begin Friday at noon with the men's heptathlon and the women's pentathlon to shortly follow. The final event on Friday will be the distance medley at 7:50 p.m. Saturday's events will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with the continuation of the men's heptathlon and the final event of the games will be the 4x400-meter relay beginning at 3:15 p.m. For a more detailed schedule of events see below.

In Utah Valley's last action two weeks ago the Wolverines broke another school record as the women shattered the 4x400-meter relay school record by more than five seconds. It was Chelsea Baker, Zandrea Nelson, Jessica Wortley, and Tiera Zaugg that set the new record.

Also UVU's Jared Keller and Jazmine Wittman were named the Great West Conference's male and female indoor track and field Athletes of the Week on January 27. Keller won the men's 3,000m run and placed third in the mile run as well, while Whittman won the 60m dash for the second time on the season.
